A Big Withdrawl

The United States’s largest health insurance company, UnitedHealth Group, announced on 11/19/2015 that it may withdraw participation in the Health Insurance Marketplace after 2016.

The decision was made after inital, optimistic predictions proved to untrue in practice. Low enrollment rates and high usage have cost the company millions of dollars. This decision would force over 500,000 people to find new coverage.

Health Insurance Marketplace officials have reassured the public that fluctuations were expected, and will normalize.
