Idaho Gets Its First Health-Insurance Co-Op

Idaho’s health insurance exchange will have at least one more competitor on the market this fall.

Mountain Health CO-OP has been approved to sell coverage through Idaho’s health insurance exchange.

Based in Eagle, Mountain Health CO-OP is the Idaho branch of Montana Health CO-OP — one of many co-ops around the country.

Co-ops are private, nonprofit organizations designed by the Affordable Care Act to sell individual and small-business plans on health insurance exchanges.  Four not-for-profit insurers already sell plans to Idaho consumers: Blue Cross of Idaho, PacificSource, Select Health and BridgeSpan.
