Study: Many Middle-Class Uninsured Lack Access To Affordable Health Care Plans

A study by USA Today says that over half of the counties in the 34 states using HealthCare.gov don’t even have a bronze plan that’s affordable.

And that’s using the government’s own definition of “affordable.”

The amount costs too much for 40 year-old couples who make too much for financial assistance.  In fact, more than a third of the plans don’t offer an affordable bronze, silver, gold or platinum plan for those buying individual plans (who are 50+ years old and ineligible for subsidies).

USA Today says such findings are evidence that “the sticker shock hitting many in the middle class, including the self-employed and early retirees, isn’t just a perception problem.”
