Idaho Governor “Butch” Otter has requested health insurance carriers to consider reinstating coverage for those whose policies will be terminated because of the Affordable Care Act.
Otter’s request comes after a huge public outcry regarding the ACA, in which President Obama gave individual states the option of allowing carriers to temporarily reinstate those policies which did not meet “essential health benefits package standards.” Those standards were due to go into effect on Jan. 1.
Otter’s office said Idahoans whose existing policies have been or are terminated or are scheduled to be terminated should contact their carrier or the Idaho Department of Insurance for more information.
