Medicaid Eligibility Questions Leave Some Children Uninsured Despite ACA

The Associated Press is reporting that parents are experiencing problems with Healthcare.gov.

Children who qualify for Medicaid are not allowed to join their parents’ subsidized health insurance plans purchased through health care exchanges.

Now, some families have purchased insurance for some family members under assurances that children would be covered under Medicaid — only to find themselves unable to add children to their plans when that eligibility ended up being not possible.

As a result, some children are left uninsured.

No news yet on how — or when — the government plans to fix this problem.
