Idaho Officials: We’re Moving Forward With Our Own Portal

State officials say Obamacare exchange failures in neighboring states won’t stop them from going forward with plans to launch their own web portal this fall.

Ironically, Oregon and Nevada health officials are headed in the opposite direction by abandoning their own state-run websites.

Along with New Mexico, Idaho is one of two states that waited a year for its own site.  That enabled state officials to discuss what went right or wrong during Obamacare’s first round.

Officials said they are working diligently to make sure their portal is up by November.

About 76,000 people signed up for private health insurance in Idaho during Obamacare’s first enrollment period. Even if 15 percent of people do not pay up and effectuate their coverage, the state still exceeded expectations by 185 percent, according to an Avalere Health analysis.
