50% of Americans to Qualify For Subsidies?

The AP (8/14, Alonso-Zaldivar) reports Wednesday, the Kaiser Family Foundation is going to show that roughly 50% of individuals who now buy their own health insurance” will become  eligible for a federal tax credit” under the Affordable Care Act. Those who do not qualify for the subsidies “may pay more.” The analysis aims to answer a central question about the ACA: “Will consumers balk – when they see the premiums for the plans?”

McClatchy (8/14, Pugh) the analysis also revealed Americans can expect “an average tax credit of nearly $2,600 to help obtain coverage on the state insurance marketplace.”

Bloomberg News  (8/14, Wayne) this “benefit” will “make the health plans more affordable than some critics have predicted.”
